The MBV-331 GMZ-Vok (pronounced "gimiz-vock") is a 2nd generation Virtuaroid featured in the Dengeki Hobby doujin Fragmentary Passage.
After the emergence of RNA, the demand for a 2nd generation-type VR increased within the 8th Plant "Flesh Refoe" (FR-08) and in DNA. The 3rd Plant "Mooney Valley" (MV-03), which produced the famed HBV of yesteryear, the Dorkas, began development of the new type VR in response to this request.
However, as the contents of the request was changed in the morning, work proved difficult. Based on a prototype skeleton for an MBV that was under development, they first created a compact VR named "Vok". A basic unit, Mooney Valley aimed to develop the Unit Skeleton System (U.S.S.) which can fit armed units to the outer shell, mainly the upper body, in response to various applications requested by the military side.
It was a groundbreaking idea that could present a single answer to the theme of "versatility" required for the 2nd generation VR. The completed prototype had a single style that covered the main body of the Vok like a coat forming a further upper arm. This innovative fuselage, which was adopted formally from V.C.a2, has created a number of derived types which could be comparable to the Apharmd series on the RNA side, utilizing the flexible structure based on the adoption of the U.S.S. technology.
The MBV-331 GMZ-Vok, which appeared in Fragmentary Passage in the third chapter Wild Launcher V.C.a5, was one of these Vok variations. It was formally adopted in V.C.a4.
By V.C.a4, the MBV-707 Temjin 707 series, used by DNA's forces, was already in practical use and is a success on the battlefields of the Limited Wars, due to its balanced capabilities. However, there is reluctance by DNA to introduce new models, despite operating many Vok series VRs. Of course, the Temjin itself was an excellent VR. The convenience and efficiency to operate a group of weapons, which continued to the grid, greatly influences the ability of the unit more than the superiority or inferiority of the combative ability of a single VR.
For this reason, DNA asked MV-03 to develop the MBV of the Vok series. Despite pressure from FR-08, MV-03 responded to this request with a positive attitude.
The work has already progressed smoothly, because of MV-03's track record with the SAV-326 Grys-Vok, SAV-328 Stein-Vok, etc. The MBV-331, which was formally adopted, is designated the GMZ-Vok.
The newly-developed outer shell "GMZ" was lightweight, more robust, and more reliable than it looks, so its reputation on the front lines was very good.
