The XVR/RP-07/07 [VR-707] Temjin is a prototype 2nd generation Virtuaroid featured in the first three segments of White Fleet V.C.a3, the first chapter of Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Fragmentary Passage.

Details

A state-of-the-art second-generation VR developed by the 7th Plant "Reference Point" (RP-07) with all of its strength. It is the original fuselage of the MBV-707 Temjin series, which was later formally adopted by DNA.

Initially, it was positioned to be a machine for the White Fleet, so the 8th Plant "Flesh Refoe" (FR-08) preferentially provided them with technology in different forms, and pioneering mechanisms were enthusiastically introduced in various places. However, due to its aggressiveness, the development of the fuselage proved rather difficult. RP-07 appeared to have suffered significantly, due to a gap between the White Fleet, which was frustrated by the delayed development schedule, and FR-08, which imposed over-engineered technical cooperation.

Regarding the circumstances around that, even in Episode 1 of Fragmentary Passage, White Fleet V.C.a3, Captain Intal Vasquez, an officer of the White Fleet, and Glimpe, an engineer of RP-07, exchanged information. One could see the scale in the exchanges that took place.

In addition, the MBV-707, which was active in various campaigns such as the Oratorio Tangram Limited War which broke out in V.C.a4, was a type detuned for general use at the request of DNA, which had been struggling with the consequent conflict with RNA. Therefore, strictly speaking, they cannot be called the same model. When comparing the VR-707 with the MBV-707, there is not much difference on the outside. However, in the case of the latter, a limiter was imposed on the Mind Booster mounted on the back, and the excess potential of this machine became limited according to the ability of general pilots. As a result, no matter how much effort a pilot onboard the MBV-707 makes, it could only bring out about 60% of the performance that the VR-707 exhibited in its initial state.

Radio Sprite

It was a new type of Temjin that was under development at the 7th Plant "Reference Point", but surprisingly, at the stage of the second prototype, it was unclear what to equip to it as a dedicated armament. The general-purpose launcher MPBL-7 equipped to the MBV-04 (the first Temjin) was certainly an excellent and highly reliable weapon, but by V.C.a3, it was considered old-fashioned. However, even if they tried to make something that surpassed it, they couldn't get started because of the high degree of perfection, and there was a lot of discussion with no prospect of convergence.

Reflecting such a stray position of development, the VR-707 series developmental fuselage was equipped with various prototype weapons. The defense unit "Radio Sprite", attached to the fuselage boarded by Captain Intal Vasquez, is one such experimental weapon. Like the prototype Temjin, this unit was enthusiastically equipped with various functions, and in particular, by linking with the Mind Booster, it can be instantly transformed that can be used for multiple purposes. The Phase Shift System (PSS) was a breakthrough at the time. However, the method of operation was very complicated, and it was an undesired difficulty to grasp the appropriate usage from operating it once or twice. Even in this episode, Vasquez, who was thinned by the dominant enemy fuselage and could not go binary or trenary, uses the system only in its original purpose as a shield.

The Radio Sprite seemed to be a failed concept, but the new launcher "Sleipnir", which was later adopted as a dedicated weapon for the VR-707, made it possible to shift between four phases with different purposes. The technical trial and error of the PSS was inherited in a developmental manner without ending in vain.

Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Fragmentary Passage - White Fleet V.C.a3

It was after the failure of experimental Unit 1, due to Reference Point's lack of experience in VR development, that Unit 2 was delivered for testing, with Captain Intal Vasquez of the White Fleet at the controls.

However, a heated encounter with a Shadow VR, GBH, lead to an adverse occurrence, where the VOP value exceeded the specified threshold value of the M.S.B.S which connected the pilot and VR, and the Mind Booster deployed all binders with a violent autonomous heat dissipation reaction. It is later revealed in the lore of the series that the encounter with the GBH caused Unit 2's V-Converter to suffer mental erosion via the Shadow phenomenon, leading to Vasquez refitting the prototype VR with a high-efficiency V-Converter, the same type as used in the VR-004 Temjin Type 94.
